Message to U.S. Citizens in Solomon Islands: National and Provincial Elections (April 17, 2024)

Solomon Islands will hold national and provincial elections April 17. Honiara City Council elections will also be held the same day.

As always, U.S. citizens in Solomon Islands are reminded to:

Avoid protests and large gatherings. Political unrest can happen during elections and times of political uncertainty.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or crowds.
Monitor local media for updates.
Keep a low profile.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Keep your cellphone charged.
Keep in touch with friends and family in the area.
Carry proper identification.
