Demonstration Alert: Budapest (Hungary), April 20

Location: Budapest

 

Event: The U.S. Embassy would like to inform you of the following demonstrations planned for Saturday, April 20.

 

 

Saturday, April 20

 

12:30 p.m. – 13:30 p.m.

  • 150 people are expected to demonstrate to call attention to the importance of safe, prejudice-free motorcycling and its community-building power.  The demonstration will start near City Park, cross into the Buda hills, and end at the starting point near City Park.

 

3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • 15,000 people are expected to demonstrate in a bicycle parade to promote environmentally friendly modes of transport.  The demonstration will start in City Park and end People’s Park.

 

3:00 p.m.  8:00 p.m.

  • 300 people are expected to demonstrate in District VII at Madach Imre square in support of changing Hungarian drug policy with regards to marijuana.

 

 

Actions to Take:

Avoid crowds and areas where demonstrators are gathering.

Monitor local media for updates.

Comply with directions from local authorities.
